Addressing Food Insecurity
To meet the challenges of food insecurity in historically underserved areas of Houston such as Third Ward, Peaceful Planet is working with Everybody Eats(collaborative led by EEDC), UH College of Medicine, church pantries, community gardens, Fit Houston and others.
No one organization has the skills or resources to address the Health Inequities that exist in our society today. We are working with the Cloth(a coalition of nonprofits, churches, individuals and institutions) and we are also part of the Third Ward Community Health Collaborative that is seeking to address this issue in a coordinated and systematic fashion.
Some of the ways that we can work towards reducing Health Inequities include:
- Looking at individual health from a Holistic perspective
- Addressing Social Determinants of Health
- Incorporating Lifestyle Medicine
